Our Commitment
Our Commitment? To ensure that every potato we use is sustainably sourced from British farms, and grown and harvested with sustainable methods.
To make this happen, we researched what sustainable agriculture looks like all over the world – from environmental regulations to labour laws – and launched our Sustainable Farming Program, also known as the SFP.
We’ve developed over 100 principles (114 to be precise) - which define Walkers’ environmental, social and economic responsibilities.

“In an effort to find sustainable alternatives, we’re trialling fertiliser made from food waste produced by our crisps plants, which means every part of the potato gets put to use.”

“Working with our farmers, we use an app called CropTrak to make sure we’re operating as efficiently as possible. This tool makes the production process run more efficiently from end to end, with less waste.”

Every British farm we work with is proud to follow these principles. But don’t just take our word for it; we regularly pick a sample of farms to check, using a third party called Control Union – a leading certification body in the global agriculture industry.

We harvest the finest potatoes from farms all over Britain – and when they reach our factory, they’re floated out of the truck to keep them in perfect nick.
Our spuds are washed, peeled, sliced and cooked to give them that golden glow, and seasoned whilst warm with our famous flavours!
We’re aiming for potato perfection, so we run taste tests six times a day. And for you to enjoy the great Walkers taste, we use protective packets to lock in freshness, so your crisps taste as good as the day they were cooked… that’s the Walkers guarantee.
